Limericks by Hikaru Kitabayashi

Limericks by Hikaru Kitabayashi

1.
When playing with friends in the park,
My life as a child was a lark.
But I now, out of work,
Do desire I could shirk
My duties 'nd be killed by a shark.

2,
Related to love and to me,
Mistakes drew so costly a fee.
But of yet, no regret
Was too much to be met.
Repeating of pain will I see.

3.
The Heartbreak Limerick

I see that my heart is in shreds.
The worst now has come and it dreads
a future undone,
a world it would shun.
And dark now the tracks that it treads!

4.
Limerick as a Tanka and Tanka as a Limerick

Limerick

I yearn for the burning sun
I don’t need a gentle one
This life is a bore
I need something more
My laughter comes not from fun.

Tanka
I need something more
My laughter comes not from fun
This life is a bore
I yearn for the burning sun
I don’t need a gentle one

5.
The Love Searcher's Limerick

I'll love who my heart tells me to.
I'll do what it makes me to do
The building of joy
Much pain will employ,
Yet I, of the pain, would not rue.

6.
My love is beside me today.
And rainbows adorn in their play
Gray clouds that remain.
I'll not them disdain,
If with my love near I can stay.
